Several outstanding lecturers and staff of the University of Debrecen received recognition on the occasion of the national holiday on March 15. The highest state awards are donated by the President of the Republic of Hungary. Due to the epidemic situation, the winners will only be able to receive the awards later.
Students and faculty members across the country use the national tricolor to draw attention to the fact that the independence of universities is a common concern for all of us.
Significant investments and developments will start in 2021 at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Debrecen (DE), where new parts of the building will be created and the existing building parts will be renewed with state support, as well as the equipment will increase.
The Department of Pediatrics of the University of Debrecen received a gift of almost five million forints from a company dealing with food trade in the region. Most of the money offered is used to buy a special imaging endoscope.

Due to the epidemic situation, several university services are operating in a changed mode. The university library can be “visited” online, and even few college students could stay in the colleges. Student administration is exclusively online.
The University of Debrecen was ranked 195th in the Times Higher Education ranking of higher education institutions in emerging economies. The institution is one of ten universities out of more than 600 surveyed that have been able to move up two categories in one year.
With the participation of the Nuclear Research Institute in Debrecen (Atomki), an international research group found a solution to the 40-year-old mystery of why fission products rotate after nuclear fission even when the nucleus has not rotated.
