Tickets are selling fast for this year’s large-scale yoUDay stadium show organized by the University of Debrecen. Organizers promise a spectacular, memorable and grand celebration featuring interactive attractions, star performers and an afterparty lasting until dawn.
Preparations for the 10th anniversary yoUDay are well underway. The performers for the 2026 stadium show were announced earlier, with the organizers putting together a diverse musical lineup designed to entertain audiences of all ages. First-year students, university members and visitors can once again expect a major festival-style experience in mid-September.
According to chief organizer Gergő Török, tickets are selling very well, making another sold-out event likely. He said this year’s show is expected to meet every expectation, with the organizers aiming to create an anniversary yoUDay that audiences will remember for years to come.
“Over the past ten years, we have tried many different things and always aimed to raise the bar, increase the visual spectacle and create an even larger-scale show, which fortunately we have managed to achieve every year. That is our goal this time as well, and because this is an anniversary edition, expectations are undoubtedly even higher. We want to impress everyone and make the 10th yoUDay more spectacular and grand than ever before. We are working at full speed to bring the most special stage attractions we have ever created, both in terms of lighting technology and the runway. I can confidently say that some very exciting ideas have been developed,” Török added.
The international diversity of the University of Debrecen is reflected in the fact that nearly 7,800 international students from 139 countries study at the institution, making it the largest international student community in Central and Eastern Europe. This year’s program will build on this diversity: alongside Hungarian and English songs, hits will also be performed in Spanish, German and French. Well-known Hungarian songs will even be performed by students from the Middle East, Asia and Africa.
The event’s focus on openness and community is also reflected in the expanded organizing team, which now includes international students who have been active in the oDEon Theatre and university life for several years.
“Last year, we introduced our international students to our Hungarian roots, while this year we are turning the concept around: international diversity will be at the heart of the 10th anniversary yoUDay. The key message of the evening is togetherness. We want everyone to feel that, no matter where they come from, they have become part of a truly welcoming and close-knit community here. This will be reinforced by a joint dance on stage inspired by the world-famous console rhythm game Just Dance, which is also popular among international students. We want to involve the entire audience,” said Veronika Végh, director of the stage show.
With almost three weeks still to go before the gates open, the organizers are naturally keeping some surprises under wraps. However, one new feature has already been revealed: audiences will have a special assistant to help with ticket purchases and other questions. Cloé, a more advanced AI assistant than in previous years, will answer questions from visitors.
The yoUDay Matiné event profile is expected to become available on Facebook on Sunday. After the stadium show, those who are not ready to call it a night can continue partying until dawn at the Emerson/NI-supported afterparty. A tech house and afro house party will be held at Víztoronykert.
The University of Debrecen is also offering future students the opportunity to purchase discounted tickets, with high school students already able to register on the youday.hu website to access the reduced-price tickets.
The 10th yoUDay will take place on Wednesday, September 16, from 6:30 p.m. at Nagyerdei Stadium in Debrecen.
